How can you share your gifts and gratitude with others?
For more than 50 years, the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women has sponsored and supported the Annual Appalachia Christmas and Papal Footprints Mission. The generosity of this mission has brought Christmas joy to many families in Kentucky.
We invite you to help make this project another great success!
Each year we collect, pack, and ship NEW, UNWRAPPED GIFTS and SHOE BOXES to parishes in Campton, Booneville, Beattyville, Pikeville, and Paintsville, Kentucky. We transport donations from SJA and other area parishes to Randolph, MN where they are consolidated with other donations from the Archdiocese. Terminal Transport Company of Roseville hauls the semi-trailer to a central depot in Lee County, Kentucky where everything is unloaded and sorted for distribution. Families are then invited to do their Christmas shopping.See a detailed list of suggested items below.
Use the appropriate label to cut out and attach to the shoebox.
- Collection boxes will be placed in each of the three churches and collected on Sunday, October 20, 2024.
- The Faith Formation students will be packing shoe boxes on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
- Donations may be dropped off in the SJA parish office during regular business hours.
- ALL donations must be brought to the parish office by Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
- Cash donations are also being accepted. They can be placed in the collection basket through Sunday, October 20, or received at the parish office by Friday, November 1, 2024.

You can fill a shoebox, bin, or backpack on your own to donate!
Fill with new, small, fun, and useful items, then add a note.
Label the box, bin, or backpack using the tags linked below.

TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL COLLECTION
-
- All items should be NEW and UNWRAPPED!
- Coats and blankets are especially needed for use in sub-zero temperatures.
- If you are filling a shoe box, include one of each of the following:
- a WOW item,
- a personal care item,
- a useful item,
- a fun item,
- a personalized note,
- and a religious item.
- Donate items in bulk for the Faith Formation students to break up and pack into shoeboxes. Examples: toothbrushes, soap bars, lip balms, socks, underwear, headbands, wash clothes, art, school, & office supplies, flashlights, batteries, hard candy, rosaries, and prayer cards.

- All liquids should be in a sealed clear plastic bag to prevent spills, such as shampoo, lotion, nail polish, laundry soap, etc.
Items NOT accepted:- Please, no scary or war-related items such as a cap or toy guns, knives, or action figures that appear violent. GI Joe toys are okay.
- No canned goods, unwrapped candy, or food that will spoil or melt.
- No articles that may be damaged by freezing.
- Extremely heavy items are not accepted.
- No used items.
