“Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing, some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” Hebrews 13:1,2
During the school year we typically also host a welcome social with donuts and refreshments. We do not host donut socials during the summer months. We encourage you to take these opportunities to chat with other parishioners and help to grow our Catholic community and Saints Joachim & Anne family.
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'" Matthew 25:40
“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'” Matthew 25:45
As Catholics, we are called to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His Church by word and deed. This includes the duty to share our material possessions justly with fellow members of the Body of Christ, as well as with any person in need.
The mission of SJA’s Hands of Christ (HOC) Committee is to support charitable groups and people or families with urgent needs within our parish geographical boundaries, along with needs outside of our community. These needs include those that the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis and the Holy See ask us to support. The HOC's second Sunday collection, and distribution of these funds, help us to live this precept of the Church, as well as to provide a positive witness of Christian charity to those who do not yet participate in full communion with the Catholic Church.
SJA’s HOC Committee meets six times a year (every other month) to allocate the funds received through the two previous second Sunday collections. There are seven lay committee members and each member is asked to serve a three-year term, starting on July 1, and ending on June 30, in alignment with our fiscal year. Committee members must be registered SJA parishioners in good standing and contribute at least $100 annually to the Hands of Christ fund.
