"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16
"The greatest among you will be your servant. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted." Matthew 23:11-12

Distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ distribute the precious Body and Blood of Christ at Sunday and Holy Day liturgies. It requires reverence and an understanding of the sacredness of this ministry. The Eucharist must be important in my life. To distribute Holy Communion one must be properly trained and commissioned by an SJA priest.
Readers are men and women who proclaim the Word of God by reading the First and Second Readings at the Sunday and Holy Day liturgies. This requires training in projecting one’s voice with confidence and proclaiming the Scripture clearly and distinctly.
Sacristans are individuals who help prepare the bread, wine, and necessary items before and after Sunday, Holy Day, and funeral liturgies. We provide training.
Servers are boys and girls grade four and older who assist at the altar during Sunday and Holy Day liturgies. There are also opportunities to serve at the SACS school Mass and funerals. This position requires training and reverence for what happens during the liturgy.
Ushers are men and women who greet and seat people as they enter the church, monitor the needs of the assembly, assist with the collection, and distribute materials at the end of the liturgy. This opportunity requires a friendly, cheerful, and helpful disposition. You are the initial face of our parish as people arrive.
We use a scheduling software called "Ministry Scheduler Pro" that allows you to set your Mass preferences and available dates, as well as to request substitutes when needed. We provide training.
Ministry Scheduler Pro is the online software scheduling program that we use at SJA to schedule our ministry volunteers for the weekend, Holy Day, and holiday Masses.
This program allows the volunteer to have easy access to their profile information and the ability to access schedules, update availability, and input preferences, as well as request a sub when necessary.
For access to our Ministry Scheduler Pro program or for more information on volunteering, please contact Cathy Wideman." Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:42-45
